Skulls, Slogans and Tracklists: The Art Behind Our Designs
Our Airbourne designs come from four places: the albums, the flying skulls, the slogans and home. Here's what's printed on them, so you can find the one that fits you.
Which albums get their own designs?
Every studio album up to Boneshaker is here. Runnin' Wild puts the band running out of a prison gate at night on the front and the full track list on the back. No Guts. No Glory. pairs the painted album scene with the title in huge yellow letters. Black Dog Barking and Breakin' Outta Hell each carry their complete track lists on the back, and Diamond Cuts nods to the 2017 B-sides collection.
What's with all the skulls in goggles?
Airbourne's art loves a flying ace. You'll find a skeleton aviator with a blue scarf, a winged skull for "Rock 'n' Roll for Life", a white Boneshaker skull between lightning bolts, a skull in a giant ace of spades and a cartoon crew of zombies riding a bomber.
Which slogans can I wear?
- Rock 'n' Roll Will Never Die: fiery letters with skeleton hands pointing the way.
- Fist-Pumping Sweat-Soaked Rock N' Roll: the live show, in four words.
- Airbourne For Life: with Rock 'N' Roll in big red type on the front.
- Give Me Hell on Halloween: for October.
- Smoke Fire Thunder Lightning: on the back of the "Burnout the Nitro" hot-rod design.
Anything from home?
Yes. The Australia Fire Eater design spells out the country in the band's jagged lettering above a skull in a firefighter's helmet, and the AB Rock n' Roll badge is a cheeky take on a classic Aussie label.
And the logo?
The Big A Logo and the Chevron design keep it simple: the lightning-cut A or the jagged wordmark, and nothing else.
